We will also look at life on the home front. It will also link to our English topic this term as we will base our writing around the brilliant book, Rose Blanche.

Science

In science, our topic will be Light and we will be learning all about many different aspects of this fascinating topic. Specifically we will learn about where light comes from, how it travels through different mediums, what it is made up of and how our eyes work to see.

Important information.

By Year 6 students are expected to know their times tables to 12x12 and must endeavour to learn them to the best of their ability, doing so at home when possible.

Regular reading helps children to develop their fluency and comprehension skills, and  in turn helps them to access the rest of the curriculum. Children may change reading books at school when they have finished them.

Children receive spellings weekly. They may be taken from the Year 5/6 statutory spelling list or high frequency words. A copy of this can be found below. These spellings should be practised as regularly as possible.

Additional information

PE: This half term is badminton. These will take place on Tuesday afternoon and could be either inside or outside so please provide appropriate clothing. The children will need their basic PE kit of a white t-shirt, shorts or jogging pants, and trainers or pumps.
